Oats & Fruits for Breakfast

Oatmeal's whole grain, high fiber and protein attributes are believed to be some of the primary factors that influence spatial memory performance in young children. Recently i came across the nutrient value in 'Steel cut Oats'.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with them, steel-cut oats are the inner parts of the oat kernel  that have been cut into two or three pieces by steel. They’re much less processed than rolled oats , which have been steamed, flattened with a roller, re-steamed, and toasted. Steel cut oats are full of nutritional value and are high in B-Vitamins, calcium, protein and fiber while low in salt and unsaturated fat. One cup of steel-cut oatmeal contains more fiber. The cooking time is considerably longer than for rolled oats. But, Trader Joe's has 'Quick Cook Steal cut Oats' which cooks in just 8-10 minutes and anyone will love the nutty flavor.

½ cup steel-cut oats
1½ cup water
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon butter
1 cup Milk
Sugar to taste

Add the oats, cinnamon stick and butter into warm water.
Keep stirring and bring to boil. (takes around 10 minutes)
Reduce heat to low, add the milk. Take it off the heat when you think you got the right consistency.
Add sugar and milk as needed.
Top it up with your baby's favorite fruits or raisins.. drop in a dollop of icecream! your taste buds will go crazy.
I normally serve it with raisins, chopped walnuts, sliced apples/bananas/strawberry or some dried fruits. Those add color, crunchiness, attraction and deliciousness......
